You are here : Propellers >> Dura tuff Leading Edge
Dura-Tuff Leading Edge

After an extensive evaluation program where (amongst other things) we tested to a tip speed of mach 1.01, we have now released our DuraTuff leading edges to be standard equipment on all Bolly Optima Series 2 and Series 3 propeller blades.

The DT edge is an in-situ moulded, modified polyurethane leading edge (not an insert
- which have a habit of coming loose). It has a hardness similar to skateboard wheels
- that's tough.

This edge can be retro fitted to any of our exiting blades,  Yes, it does cost more ($99 per blade for a retrofit) - but what do you expect from the best leading edge money can buy.

»  No more replacing leading edge tapes.
» Gone is repairing damaged leading edges.
» Water borne operations are now possible.
» Great value for money - reduced maintenance.

So if you destroy one of these leading edges you most likely have much bigger problems to worry about .... This was one product test that was quite appalling - imagine doing endless circuits at speed over gravel runways with the aim to deliberately pick up stones. That's what we had to do. Well at least it's a good excuse to give the wife when one want's to go flying yet again, (ongoing testing dear !!).

Blades with and without the new DT edge can be mixed and matched if required (as long as they are balanced).

Many customers are choosing to retrofit their old Bolly blades with the DuraTuff leading edge.

The DT edge can also be replaced on the rare occasions where it's needed.

The DT edge is not fitted to BOS1 or BOS4 blades as there is little call for it
