News : Latest overspeed testing has gone to mach 1.01 tip speed (for proving the DURA -TUFF leading edge).
The Bolly BOS3 68 x 58 (left and right hand versions) in our standard hub (66" 3B prop) have been certified for use in the Airborne XT series of Trikes, with Rotax 912 or 582. This entailed, amonst other things, overspeed testing at mach .97 tip speed using every bit of power from a 200hp engine - an awesome experience that has given us enourmous confidence in our product. And then there was the 10 ton pull test + more.
as pictured above. a Trike with Rotax 5823.47 gearbox using 72x60 S R blades in a BOS3 - 3B hub, slightly depitched. True size is 70 x 55 3B. A perfect combination on Airborne Edge machines, winning rave reviews from the many who are using this combo.
Extensive Trike testing has shown our props are suitable on all Rotax 912/582/503 powered trikes from slow to fast Trike Types. Ring or email for full details.
Supphire : The most recent tests have been the BOS3 53 x 50 SR as a 3B prop. (trimmed slightly in diameter to 60") for use on the Sapphire. Initial feedback is exceptionally good. We are waiting for a full report from Steve Dumnsey of Sapphire Aircraft ( + 03 54397168 ).
Savannah / Lightwing etc with 100hp Rotax 912S is great when using the BOS3 72 x 58 S R blades in a BOS3-3B hub. True size 70" 3B, or alterenatively if ground clearance or cruise speed are priorities - the same but using the BOS3 68 x 58 SR blades (true size=66" 3B).
Skyfox / Lighwing / Rans with Rotax 912 using 72 x 60 S R lades in a BOS3 - 2B hub, depitched. True size is 70 x 52 2B. We prefer the 3B prop. see below...
Lightwing / Rans / Skyfox / Gazelle etc with Rotax 912 using 68 x 58 S R blades in a BOS3-3B hub, depitched. True size is 66x48 3B. Awesome smoothness.
Lightwing (or similar) with Rotax 582 2.62 gearbox using 68 x 58 S L blades in a BOS3-3B hub, depitched. True size is 66 x 45 3B. Can also be used as 2B with slightly more pitch.
Lightwing (or similar) with Rotax 582 / 532 2.58 box using 68x58 S L blades in our BOS3-2B 75mm PCD hub. Depitch to 18 degress at 22" radius. True size is 67.5x44 2B
The Cobra Arrow 108hp Subaru belt drive us using 72x60 S R blades in a BOS3 - 3B hub, pitched up. Awesome performance, we credit the prop, Tom credits the airframe. Both win.
The 72 x 60 S Left or Right is proving to be excellent on many different application, the most common being Subaru engined machines such as Foxcon Terrier or Gyro's.
The 62 x 52 S R has been very encouraging. Great on strut braced Drifters as a 60" 3B prop and other pusher aircraft with Rotax 447 or 503. We personally fly (amongst other things) a Rotax 447 2.58 gearbox powered Trike. and after exhaustive testing we chose to use this prop with a BOS3-2B 75mm PCD hub. True size is 61.5" x 40" pitch.
We are recommending our standard BOS3 prop NOT be used on Jabiru engines - on day soon (est 2009) we will develop a new purpose built blade for this application
